Having a library with some kind of API would be nice - that way programmatic access wouldn't need to spawn external programs all the time.
Or, if initialization is time-consuming, a small STDIN/STDOUT based interface?

Great idea! The code is pretty easy and internally there's a lib that's built; but a formal API would be great.

Looks like development on this may have ended, but I'll still add my +1 to this. Would love to have a Java API.
