Here is what I found:</p> <p align="center"> </p> <p align="center"><a href="photo/demolition2/1024/IMG_7015.jpg"><img src="photo/demolition2/512/IMG_7015.jpg" width="512" height="384" border="2"></a> <br> A big chunk of Mill C is missing.</p> <p align="center"> </p> <p align="center"><a href="photo/demolition2/1024/IMG_7019.jpg"><img src="photo/demolition2/512/IMG_7019.jpg" width="512" height="683" border="2"></a> <br> It feels strange to be able to see this much of the power plant from Alcott street.</p> <p align="center"> </p> <p align="center"><a href="photo/demolition2/1024/IMG_7021.jpg"><img src="photo/demolition2/512/IMG_7021.jpg" width="512" height="384" border="2"></a> <br> It looks like they're tearing through Mill C pretty rapidly.</p> <p align="center"> </p> <p align="center"><a href="photo/demolition2/1024/IMG_7029.jpg"><img src="photo/demolition2/512/IMG_7029.jpg" width="512" height="384" border="2"></a> <br> They've got a pretty good start on Mill C's large warehouse, too. That panel of windows that is hanging in mid-air from the warehouse wall looks pretty cool.</p> <p align="center"> </p> <p align="center"><a href="photo/demolition2/1024/IMG_7032.jpg"><img src="photo/demolition2/512/IMG_7032.jpg" width="512" height="384" border="2"></a> <br> It appears that they have established electrical service to the trailers.</p> <p align="center"> </p> <p align="center"><a href="photo/demolition2/1024/IMG_7034.jpg"><img src="photo/demolition2/512/IMG_7034.jpg" width="512" height="384" border="2"></a> <br> The whole landscape here has been altered. </p> <p align="center"> </p> <p align="center"><a href="photo/demolition2/1024/IMG_7037.jpg"><img src="photo/demolition2/512/IMG_7037.jpg" width="512" height="384" border="2"></a> <br> <em>The inside of Mill C has become the outside of Mill C; by way of Homrich's actions.</em></p> <p align="center"> </p> <p align="center"><a href="photo/demolition2/1024/IMG_7038.jpg"><img src="photo/demolition2/512/IMG_7038.jpg" width="512" height="384" border="2"></a><br> That's a lot of debris.</p> <p align="center"> </p> <p align="center"><a href="photo/demolition2/1024/IMG_7040.jpg"><img src="photo/demolition2/512/IMG_7040.jpg" width="512" height="384" border="2"></a> <br> The large steel tank has been toppled.</p> <p align="center"> </p> <p align="center"><a href="photo/demolition2/1024/IMG_7041.jpg"><img src="photo/demolition2/512/IMG_7041.jpg" width="512" height="384" border="2"></a><br> "It is dead."</p> <p align="center"> </p> <p align="center"><a href="photo/demolition2/1024/IMG_7047.jpg"><img src="photo/demolition2/512/IMG_7047.jpg" width="512" height="384" border="2"></a> <br> The architecture of the newly exposed section of Mill C compliments that of the power plant quite nicely. </p> <p align="center"> </p> <p align="center"><a href="photo/demolition2/1024/IMG_7049.jpg"><img src="photo/demolition2/512/IMG_7049.jpg" width="512" height="384" border="2"></a><br> They've still got their improved roadway going through there in front of and around back behind Mill C.</p> <p align="center"> </p> <p align="center"><a href="photo/demolition2/1024/IMG_7051.jpg"><img src="photo/demolition2/512/IMG_7051.jpg" width="512" height="384" border="2"></a> <br> I'd be more excited if that crane were there to put the power plant back into operation than to get ready to tear it down, but what can one do?</p> <p align="center"> </p> <p align="center"><a href="photo/demolition2/1024/IMG_7055.jpg"><img src="photo/demolition2/512/IMG_7055.jpg" width="512" height="384" border="2"></a><br> Well, that part of Mill C is still there, although the burned portion is completely gone.</p> <p align="center"> </p> <p align="center"><a href="photo/demolition2/1024/IMG_7056.jpg"><img src="photo/demolition2/512/IMG_7056.jpg" width="512" height="384" border="2"></a><br> ...</p> <p align="center"> </p> <p align="center"><a href="photo/demolition2/1024/IMG_7070.jpg"><img src="photo/demolition2/512/IMG_7070.jpg" width="512" height="384" border="2"></a><br> A large garbage dumpster and some barrels stand before this section of Mill C. </p> <p align="center"> </p> <p align="center"><a href="photo/demolition2/1024/IMG_7071.jpg"><img src="photo/demolition2/512/IMG_7071.jpg" width="512" height="384" border="2"></a><br> I wonder what's in those barrels.</p> <p align="center"> </p> <p align="center"><a href="photo/demolition2/1024/IMG_7073.jpg"><img src="photo/demolition2/512/IMG_7073.jpg" width="512" height="384" border="2"></a><br> One can walk up this newly installed gravel road to get a better look at the destruction.</p> <p align="center"> </p> <p align="center"><a href="photo/demolition2/1024/IMG_7074.jpg"><img src="photo/demolition2/512/IMG_7074.jpg" width="512" height="384" border="2"></a> <br> They've made a lot of progress on Mill C, but quite a bit still remains of the massive complex. </p> <p align="center"> </p> <p align="center"><a href="photo/demolition2/1024/IMG_7075.jpg"><img src="photo/demolition2/512/IMG_7075.jpg" width="512" height="384" border="2"></a><br> For those of you who are familiar with the innards of Mill C, Matt's and my best guess is that the partially-torn-down building in this picture is the "<a href="http://www.alliedpaper.org/millc-3.html">connecting corridor</a> (between the workshops and large warehouse) <a href="http://www.alliedpaper.org/millc-3.html">with the sketchy floor and fire extinguisher</a>."</p> <p align="center"> </p> <p align="center"><a href="photo/demolition2/1024/IMG_7076.jpg"><img src="photo/demolition2/512/IMG_7076.jpg" width="512" height="384" border="2"></a><br> Here's the large warehouse again, or what's left of it. There is (or was) a large basement area underneath this warehouse, containing a lot of equipment and also a locker room. Unfortunately, we only discovered this area quite recently and did not get any pictures of it. </p> <p align="center"> </p> <p align="center"><a href="photo/demolition2/1024/IMG_7077.jpg"><img src="photo/demolition2/512/IMG_7077.jpg" width="512" height="384" border="2"></a><br> One can see the roof structure of the giant warehouse.</p> <p align="center"> </p> <p align="center"><a href="photo/demolition2/1024/IMG_7078.jpg"><img src="photo/demolition2/512/IMG_7078.jpg" width="512" height="384" border="2"></a><br> The tank is in even worse condition on this side. I wonder what they did to topple it like that. </p> <p align="center"> </p> <p align="center"><a href="photo/demolition2/1024/IMG_7080.jpg"><img src="photo/demolition2/512/IMG_7080.jpg" width="512" height="384" border="2"></a><br> It looks like that's the pipe (or one of the pipes) that ran from the tank to Mill C. It would have been fun to have tried to find that pipe's entrance in the basement of Mill C and see where it went or what it was connected to. I probably would have done this if someone hadn't BURNED THAT PART OF MILL C DOWN (sigh). </p> <p align="center"> </p> <p align="center"><a href="photo/demolition2/1024/IMG_7081.jpg"><img src="photo/demolition2/512/IMG_7081.jpg" width="512" height="384" border="2"></a><br> It looks like they didn't even bother removing some of the machinery before they started tearing into the warehouse.</p> <p align="center"> </p> <p align="center"><a href="photo/demolition2/1024/IMG_7085.jpg"><img src="photo/demolition2/512/IMG_7085.jpg" width="512" height="384" border="2"></a><br> I wonder when they are going to dismantle those connectors between the power plant, Mill C and Mill D.</p> <p align="center"> </p> <p align="center"><a href="photo/demolition2/1024/IMG_7087.jpg"><img src="photo/demolition2/512/IMG_7087.jpg" width="512" height="384" border="2"></a> <br> I don't know what they've been doing inside the Powerhouse and Mill D, but none of the exterior demolition has started.</p> <p align="center"> </p> <p align="center"><a href="photo/demolition2/1024/IMG_7096.jpg"><img src="photo/demolition2/512/IMG_7096.jpg" width="512" height="384" border="2"></a><br> That metal cage (which was formerly guarding the connection between the fire hydrant and the garden hose to Mill C) looks kind of familiar...</p> <p align="center"> </p> <p align="center"><a href="photo/demolition2/1024/IMG_7095.jpg"><img src="photo/demolition2/512/IMG_7095.jpg" width="512" height="384" border="2"></a><br> Oh yeah, it's the container of Keydime C222 from Akzo Nobel that used to be sitting in the portion of Mill C just up the hill from here! Akzo/Eka's <a href="http://www.eka.com/Eka/Businesses/PP/Sizing/Internal+Sizing.htm">Keydime C</a> product line is a line of synthetic internal sizing chemicals which are stabilized with cationic starch. Details about <a href="http://www.ekachemicals.de/Produkt_detail.php?Produkt=KEYDIME+C+222">Keydime C 222</a> (the specific chemical that came in this container) are available on the web, but for some reason, I can only find this information in German. </p> <p align="center"> </p> <p align="center"><a href="photo/demolition2/1024/IMG_7104.jpg"><img src="photo/demolition2/512/IMG_7104.jpg" width="512" height="384" border="2"></a><br> They have placed some danger tape over the power plant doors, and they seem to have put black plastic sheets up over some of the windows. Perhaps they are already working on the asbestos in there, and are trying to prevent the fibers from blowing out of the building in the wind.</p> <p align="center"> </p> <p align="center"><a href="photo/demolition2/1024/IMG_7106.jpg"><img src="photo/demolition2/512/IMG_7106.jpg" width="512" height="384" border="2"></a><br> It's going to be a shame to see this building come down.</p> <p align="center"> </p> <p align="center"><a href="photo/demolition2/1024/IMG_7110.jpg"><img src="photo/demolition2/512/IMG_7110.jpg" width="512" height="384" border="2"></a><br> If they weren't tearing the factory down, I would be very tempted to try to buy the house that is situated about 2 yards to the right of this picture in a couple years when I finish school and get a job :).</p> <p align="center"> </p> <p align="center"><a href="photo/demolition2/1024/IMG_7111.jpg"><img src="photo/demolition2/512/IMG_7111.jpg" width="512" height="384" border="2"></a><br> Danger!
