Add rules for mechs facing off against combatants who are not in mechs.

Key questions:

  • How does a mech target an out-of-mech combatant?
    • Hits on a successful targeting roll of 1-25
  • How do hand weapons target mechs? (And how do hand weapons work in general?)
  • What options do out-of-mech combatants have to protect themselves and/or escape from a pursuing mech?

Unless otherwise specified, handheld weapons aren't going to be effective against mechs. Handheld weapons make lots of sense when used in combat on foot, because that's all roleplay-based.

An exception may be made for specialized weapons designed to deal with mech armor. (Nathaniel suggests the moniker "mech-busters".) These weapons should have similar stats to mech weapons, but don't use resources and have limited ammo. They can be fired once per turn.

Should we move the addition of mech-busters to it's own task and close this?
Although, I feel like hand-to-hand combat is clunky as is and may need to be revisited anyways. Maybe it should just use stat rolls...

Based on the recent feedback we've received, I think we may need to keep working on this. It seems like there may need to be more options for dealing with mechs on foot, not just mech-busters.
