I'm interested in playing with Go code to handle Meshtastic messages. I see this is somewhat outdated code, and the security issues opened are not handled.

Is this a project that is in use, or was it a short-term experiment?

It's still in use, but myself and the other contributors have been short on time. I've had some other work and personal obligations come up, but I have a strong need to flesh this out more and get it updated. That will be happening but not for a few more months.

Sounds good. I will be happy to make PRs :)

I admit my use case might not be the same as yours; I want to monitor many topics at once, on all channels. This is mostly to implement a multi-channel bot or map maker.

That is something I was working on as well, for a public BBS that sets up and uses a private channel for each user (and thus a unique key for each user). I'm not sure how the landscape for this looks though now that public/private key crypto was added to the firmware. My workaround may no longer be needed.

Probably not, but AFAIK this code cannot act like a user yet, or at least does not also implement the encryption.
