Use yq to convert json log lines to Yaml

I have json log lines like

{"level":"DEBUG","time":"2023-10-25T18:52:57.788Z", "foo":"bar"}
{"level":"DEBUG","time":"2023-10-25T18:53:61.234Z", "baz":"faz"}

This fails:

❯ cat ~/tmp/t.jsonlog | yq -P

level: DEBUG
time: "2023-10-25T18:52:57.788Z"
foo: bar
Error: bad file '-': yaml: line 1: did not find expected <document start>

Is there an option to make yq support this format, or should I open a feature request?

You need to tell it to parse the data as JSON:

cat ~/tmp/t.jsonlog | yq -P -pj
