Is this regarding 'Paste' and 'Paste and Go'? I am not sure if this is in fact a bug (not working as intended) or a new feature request. EDIT: I see it now, the |

Just to clarify: I open the browser and start typing in the search/url field; then, below the field, a previously copied link url is displayed (and there is no possibility to prevent this). |

@boek I thought users didn't like this and we shipped a point release to shut if off by default - but did we put it back on? |

@Sdaswani we used to allow paste & go with any string on the pasteboard, but found out it could leak passwords and turned it off here: #341. Then we took another pass at it and now only show it if a link is on the clipboard with #269. We never added a setting for it though. |

Thanks @boek I think we can investigate adding a setting. |

Related to #1220. IMO we don't need both a toggle and ability to clear. Should likely decide to use on or the other. |

Adding to this... it’s now clear on iOS 14 that this feature scans the clipboard quite aggressively. Every keystroke into the URL bar triggers a notification that “Firefox Focus pasted...” There should be an option to turn this feature off entirely. And even if it’s on, it should only check the clipboard once, when the URL bar is first focused. |

Yeah, @sodle 's observation is something I noticed since upgrading to the iOS 14 beta. It's quite alarming, and feels like the behavior of an app scooping up data. (Especially since other apps actually do this.) Of course, I don't believe Mozilla would do something nefarious like that, but it undermines the feeling of trust in an app that specifically brands itself on privacy. |

(By the way, I know resources are not what they used to be with the recent layoffs... is there any way I could get involved and try to help with this?) |

I use Focus as a „clean“ browser without any open tabs etc. in a class room setting. Displaying links that were copied earlier to the clipboard (by teacher or students) violates privacy concerns.
So I really would prefer that the clipboard content is not displayed by default.
(AFAIK there currently is now the possibility to configure that behaviour; IMO it should be opt-in).
UPDATE: I'm not sure where I got that information, possibly from some PR; but in the current version 4.0.2 I can not find any possibility to prevent that behaviour.
