@nateGeorge , thanks for the post. In the mid of installation of step 4 of freeIPA, I will be prompted to enter the Kerberos realm, the hostnames of Kerberos servers and the hostname of the administrative server for the Kerberos realm.
E.g.
Kerberos realm: COMPUTINGFORGEEKS.COM
Kerberos Server hostname: ipa.computingforgeeks.com
Administrative server hostname: ipa.computingforgeeks.com

I have a question. Do I need to change these inputs according to my network name? For example, if I work for a.ca, I should change to
Kerberos realm: a.ca
Kerberos server hostname: ipa.a.ca
Administrative server host name:ipa.a.ca

Is my understanding correct?

Another question:
In step 1 , host name is changed to ipa.example.com. If my company is a.ca, should I change it to ipa.a.ca or it does not matter?

Thanks!!!

I think your understanding is correct but it's been a few years since I've worked with this. You will probably find better support on another forum related to FreeIPA. Possibly they have a mailing list, reddit, or you can try stack overflow. You can update us with your findings here as well if you wish.

I have a doubt, mostly due to my ignorance. But if I have an authentication system with freeIPA for SLURM is it mandatory to milk it?
