Welcome to the ncbi-vdb wiki!

This repository contains sources for libraries previously contained in sratoolkit. The latter is deprecated and will be removed after a period of time.

This is the first release to use an install target in the makefiles. It was not provided previously because the majority of our users never had the admin privileges required to actually perform an installation. We will probably be modifying the scripts involved, so please bear with us as we make this adjustment.

Similarly, we are now running a traditional-style configure script. In the past our build did not require much along the lines of configuration, but we will be shifting more of the work from the make pass to the configure pass during the coming days and perhaps weeks.

ncbi-vdb depends upon includes from its sister repository ngs. The latter contains a new API that we will be using as the basis for tools introduced in the future.
