near-workspaces-ava command on package.json test script

When adding a test:testnet script line to the package.json file created by npx near-workspaces-init, tests are still only run in sandbox mode.

When developing sim tests using this library I adapted the package json to use yarn instead of near-workspaces-ava as the main test script as follows:

This then worked as intended, running first the sim tests in sandbox and later in testnet.

I think I'd have a few questions regarding this, how would I use the recommended near-workspaces-ava script to run both environments as above from the main test script? And, what does near-workspaces-ava do that is different from running something like yarn here?
