we need to check VM version for update script

try the script provided here:
https://stackoverflow.com/questions/4023830/how-to-compare-two-strings-in-dot-separated-version-format-in-bash

check that the licence of the script is ok for us

the VM version is available in a file on the desktop (the version is in the file name):

$HOME/workspace/rose-vm/vm-docs/ROSE-vX.Y.Z
