Backup to a cloud storage service without creating a local archive?

Hello

Is it possible to back up all of my AIO Nextcloud's instance data to a cloud storage service like Google Drive using something like rclone without creating a local archive like when using the built-in backup solution (Borg)?

The reason I want this is because I don't want to store the backup on a physical hard drive but rather in encrypted form in Google Drive.

If I create an archive of all the NextCloud data and upload that to GDrive using rclone, the archive is stored on same hard drive where my NextCloud data is. And even though it's compressed, it still takes up almost as much space as all of the NextCloud data, which effectively halves the amount of data I can store.

I didn't change the default data directory location, so it's in /var/lib/docker/volumes/nextcloud_*.

I'm assuming it tries to create the /mnt/ncBackup directory but can't as it's already there? What can I do to fix this?

Yes looks like it. You can try to use a subfolder like /mnt/ncBackup/subfolder in the aio interface as backup target and check if that makea it work

I changed the backup directory to /mnt/ncBackup/backup and clicked "Create backup". Now I'm getting a very similar error in the container logs:

I'm thinking I might be doing something wrong when trying to back up to a FUSE filesystem, as the README of this repo only mentions the ability to set the backup location to SSHFS, SMB or NFS filesystems...

Yes, I did. From the log you can see the message changed from:

yes but which directories exactly would i need to sync to be able to later restore the backup in case my current instance of NextCloud breaks?
