Installing OLab4

David Topps edited this page Mar 2, 2019 · 3 revisions

We are using Docker to distribute and manage the installation of OLab4.

Docker containers are well documented here: www.docker.com -- it is a free system and well established.

We will upload detailed notes on how to install OLab4 using Docker here.. This process takes a while because Docker has to download and install all the operating system components and libraries to run a web server, as well as all the code and databases to run our applications. On our systems, it typically takes 30-45 minutes, even with a reasonably fast web connection.

You will need some familiarity with how to install and run a web server. If you have installed your own WordPress server, or similar, that will help.

For those who do not have the time or the skill to install a server, you can ask for a demo account on one of our servers. This is free. The account is not limited. But we only provide limited technical support, as this application is supported by research and development grants, not by user fees or a freemium model.
