Media strategy meeting, as well as ongoing working meeting to review the past week's activities and plan, or schedule, content for the following week.
This is a weekly meeting happening on Wednesday, 3 January, 2024 from 10:00 AM PDT (17:00 UTC) - 11:00 AM PDT (18:00 UTC)

We'll be meeting again in the omi-weekly-meeting channel of the AngellXR/OMI Discord.
We regularly use the # omi-media channel for text chat.

1. Admin

• What is the blocker for starting up a new discord server and get it ready so long (not invite people yet)?
• What mailing list service to use? MailChimp?
• Can we start up a Matrix server/instance and get it ready so long (not invite people yet)?
• Can we move the Mastodon server?

2. "Tiny acts of participation": How do we make dipping in and out easy? Bots? Archive? Wiki?

4. Publicity strategy (originated through informal chat with mtv):

• W3C presence update
• content strategy - what is our "official" platforms
• our workflow ... what is it?
• review github, "audit" github. - all the properties, their content, is it good? does it need to be changed? simply re-organised?
• github documentation, "rules", guidelines, how to use our github and contribute to the documentation.
• youtube "production standards"
• list of content creators, who are our members who are creating content, who we can shine a light on?
• cross post strategy (simultaneous, automated) - not do the same things 5 times over, manually.
• "be a trumpet for our members"
• news updates, and then simply point to github

Website is on wordpress - does that have mailing list capability?
Can wordpress incorporate a wiki sort of thing (and is this better than github)?
Discourse - forum and mailing list capability - good for wiki??

Wiki:
a wiki for information related to metaverse software development.

Specifically, I'd like there to be a place where prospective developers of metaverse-supporting software could go to get an overview of things like protocols, formats, APIs, and other such connective elements that would be useful to support if pursuing compatibility with the wider metaverse, as well as the interconnections of how these elements are already used in relation to each other by various projects.

Could be an excellent link with the "map of open metaverse components?"

(are github wikis usually taken more as a place to discuss contributing to the specific repository connected to them than providing general subject-related information?)

Next: have a strategy for how to build this knowledge, aligned with "map of open metaverse components?" - get grant from OMF??
