recently a new spotify update changed how the in-app volume slider works. Before it was indepented from the Windows audio mixer sliders, now changing the in-app volume also changes the audio mixer volume.
While deej still works, the slider in spotify is not linear at all, 0-10% in audio mixer seems to be equivalent to 0-70% in spotify allowing for finely adjusted volume when using the in-app slider.
Problem is, most sliders are a bit jumpy at very low volumes making it difficult to set spotify to 1 or 2%, which is plenty loud for background music. Besides that, spotify itself seem to be able to adjust the volume for finely. It allows for decimal percentages, even though the audio mixer can't show them.
