Merge / join / collaboration with OPIN - https://openinsurance.io #6
Comments
Our understanding of "open-insurance" is pretty straight forward
Currently "https://open-insurance.org" is simply serving as a lightweight umbrella and "single point of information" gathered (by Baloise Group) around the general open-source movements that recently got our attention: both on insurance company level as well as on a meta / association / initiative level. We'd really like to see that these principles and ideas align with those behind https://openinsurance.io In addition to that our idea would be to "use / join / create" industry working groups (e.g. at the Eclipse Foundation; but we're also open for alternatives) that foster these principles. Rather than reinventing the wheel we'd simply like to live by these by many members widely accepted and industry-proven guidelines and bylaws. @OpenInsurance : please feel free to join (our monologue). As a next step I'd like to write a brief SWOT analysis for this issue. |
Items 1, 2, and 3 are agreeable principles. OPIN's vision was clearly articulated that open source is the preferred way in developing the concept, standards and framework for Open Insurance. It is also important to discuss and agree on the multi-faceted aspects involved in creating an industry standard including promoting the concept, design of the common API standard, developer resources, education, training, community building, working groups, legal entity, jurisdiction, governing principles etc. The whitepaper of OPIN provides an overview for many of these aspects centered around the setup of a non-for-profit foundation. It is important to have clarity and consensus of what the short, medium and long term objectives are. |
https://openinsurance.io: We (Baloise) are already a member of the OPIN community.
Fouad Husseini just recently suggested to merge into the openinsurance.io movement.
