Whedon should post an error message when check references is failed

In case of the paper and the bib file are in another branch

@_whedon check references

silently fails. I don't know if this is really an issue but in this case it would be nice if Whedon would throw an error message.

whedon does have an error message when this same issue happens with generate pdf...
