(title.) I see that machine plugins have Plover engine server is the only one I know about (plus some other plugins that I wrote recently) that does it, and by storing another (JSON) file in Plover's configuration directory. |

plover_console_ui does it too, by modifying Briefly mentioned in https://plover2.readthedocs.io/en/latest/api/config.html#plover.config.Config._OPTIONS. |

plover_console_ui does it too, by modifying
plover.config.Config._OPTIONS
so Plover writes toplover.cfg
