note dump has comments from uid 1571629 on https://api.openstreetmap.org/api/0.6/notes/8890.json shown in API as empty

Note, this is distinct from 500 error on viewing it via website ( openstreetmap/openstreetmap-website#2146 ) happening for all empty notes and therefore distinct from openstreetmap/operations#1014 .

I am reporting this as apparently redacted/deleted info persists in note dump - is it applying also for something more important?

See also https://community.openstreetmap.org/t/zombie-note-empty-in-api-comments-visible-in-note-dump/107122 where I tried asking. I also tried deleting all old note dumps and recheck I download recent one.

This is actually the same as the 500 issue despite what you say - none of the note comments have been hidden but the user account that made them has been deleted.

I don't think this is resolvable until we determine what the correct behaviour is for deleted users which is currently an open question on the web site repository.

@matkoniecz matkoniecz changed the title Note dump containing data for note that was deleted and hidden (API returns empty note with comment, note dump for weeks has them) Note dump contains comments made by deleted users (unlike API) Dec 29, 2023
