When using the auto install script, if you use a sub-sub domain (i.e. dashboard.sub.domain.com). When doing this, the auto install script doesn't allow login in due to the cookies not being maintained/not working. There is no error, it simply redirects the user back from the login screen to the login screen.
When using a .local with a standard sub domain domain (i.e. dashboard.domain.local), there is an error that the domain needs added to the allowed host list.
It is not clear that any of this is an issue during install and it requires much digging to understand this.
