What is the reason for using data-type="noteref" / data-type="footnotes" / data-type="footnote" in epub output and not epub:type="noteref" / epub:type="rearnotes" / epub:type="rearnote" (as per IDPF suggestion)?
Also, why not use epub:type="footnote" directly?

Thanks for catching this. It is indeed a bug that the epub stylesheets output data-type rather than epub:type for the footnote-related semantics. Will definitely get in a fix for this soon.
I'm not sure this is a bug but I was wondering.
