Any way to bring back non-triggered python handlers

Many thanks for trying for days. I understand, multithreaded is not an option. Even so, I really miss non-triggered from python, I have strong habits from using it in 0.17. So I was wondering, is there another way, completely different to achieve it?

Here are some first ideas.

1. Use a single thread. Call each extension in turn. The extensions need to be really fast (which mine is). There could be a way for the extension to indicate it is fast and should be called in this way.
2. Let the extension register "keyphrases" to match against. My extension has a table of known phrases that it matches for the query as a substring. Probably many extensions are similar - for example the files extension has a list of known files. So the extension can register the phrases with the corresponding Item/Action.

We have index-/globalqueryhandlers now in pyhton. therefore this one is obsolete. let me know it i got this wrong
