How to use Python plugins?

This should actually be an issue in the python repo or the documentation repo, but it seems they have issues disabled (?).
In the documentation for extensions the link to the docs of the python plugin is broken. I didn't manage to find this README file (but I'm not so github-savvy...).
Could anyone restore it and/or provide an explanation on how to use python plugins?

your are doing it wrong. just open the settings (ctrl+, or type settings and activate the item) and click the checkboxes you want.

Oh OK I see my confusion. I had the "Python plugins" checked in the settings (from a long time ago), and forgot that it's function was to add the other python plugins to the same list. So I was looking for a different list for python plugins 🤦‍♂️ (emoji added using albert btw 😀). Consider adding a word on it in the docs somewhere...

What added to the confusion was that I didn't see the plugin I was looking for, but after unticking and reticking the "Python plugins" it appeared.
