Hi everyone,
My name is Mike. I'm Research Software Engineer from Newcastle and recently joined the CCRP.
I recently made some changes to the GitHub Organisation and some key Repositories, as part of the transition from the Colouring London prototype to the wider Colouring Cities programme, which I thought I would share with you.
The new Core Platform
The key change is that the old Colouring London repository has been renamed to Colouring Core, which will become the new Core Platform for all Colouring Cities projects. If your project was already forked from Colouring London, everything should update automatically and there shouldn't be any problems (do let us know if you encounter any). There is now a new version of Colouring London, which is forked from the Core Platform and which can be used as an example of how to use the Core Platform moving forward.
The plan is that, where possible, all Colouring Cities projects should be forked from Colouring Core. Please keep your project up-to-date with the latest changes to the Core Platform, and feel free to contribute any useful changes that you think might benefit other CCRP partners back into the Core repository (by submitting Pull Requests).
Configuration
Part of the new Core Platform is a new configuration framework, designed to make it easier to customise Colouring Cities for our partners. I'll post more about this in a separate discussion, but please let us know if you have any suggestions on how to improve the Core Platform.
If you have any questions or comments, please discuss them below.
Thanks
Mike S.
