Datatype Multiselect

Hi,
I have a descriptor with datatype multiselect with values that are connected to products. Let´s say for example shirt number 555 is connected to descriptor color with value blue. What happens if I change the display name and value in the selection option list from blue to dark blue? Will the previous value be disconnected from the product then? If this is the case then it´s very unfortunate if you make a spelling misstake on a list value, correct it and then all connections are lost.
