The ITF is an intergovernmental organisation with a mandate covering all modes of transport.
Part of ITF's work includes collecting official data from its member countries using a number of regular questionnaires. These are then published on OECD.stat.

@cragliam thanks so much for sharing the full detail of the measures and categorizations used in the ITF questionnaire. This is extremely valuable.

I think it would be great for someone to work on converting these to SDMX data structures, if that has not already been done (if it has, could you share?). For example, there could be a "code list" with an ID like ITF.MPW(1.0) ("Maximum permissible weight") and codes like:

• 1 (or any other short, unambiguous, machine-readable label, e.g. A); text “Up to 3500 kg”
• 2; “3501 kg - 7500 kg”
• 3; “7501 kg - 12000 kg”
• 4; “12001 kg - 40000 kg”
• 5; “Over 40000 kg”

…and then this could be referenced in the 2+ places it's used.

I don't know who can/should do this, but I'm happy to provide advice.

This would achieve a few things:

1. Help label data from ITF unambiguously.
2. Provide an example of how other data providers could label their data with the same clarity.
3. Provide one (not necessarily the only) set of reference structures and categorizations that the TDCI could consider as targets for harmonized data; i.e. we could say, "this set of MPW codes is best to use for a harmonized data set, and other data with different codes/categorization along this dimension should be adapted to it”.
