Hey @petejohanson, I rebased my repro with yours and updated my keymap. But then notice after flashing it that all the widgets where not being display. With the help of @caksoylar pointed out that widgets need to be enabled in zaphod_defconfg

CONFIG_ZMK_WIDGET_BATTERY_STATUS=y
CONFIG_ZMK_WIDGET_OUTPUT_STATUS=y
CONFIG_ZMK_WIDGET_LAYER_STATUS=y
