This cf01185#diff-f68d7ca69ff14c5e89e06e69172d56c1R36 doesn't do what it's supposed to.
According to e.g. rubygems/rubygems#1662 (comment), or the much older (and semi-broken) http://blog.mattwynne.net/2011/04/26/targeting-multiple-platforms-jruby-etc-with-a-rubygems-gemspec/ the gemspec is executed once (by rubygems) and then serialized.
