Is there any planning for syncing contacts as well?

None yet, though it's being requested more and more these days, so will add it to the feature request list. Likely will be behind configuring sync for multiple calendars though...

And behind the chance to set colors (#405) I hope :-D

@phw198 - I understand you focus on the calendar, what works quite well now.
Do you have an idea for a similar project for contacts?

Any news on contact sync? It would be loved here ;-)

I would find contacts sync much more useful than syncing multiple calendars.
Please would you look at this as a higher priority?
Thank you.

Can't believe this hasn't happened yet. The fact that it's easy to import a Google calendar (which syncs automatically with Gmail, Android, macOS, Win10 Calendar, etc,) into O365 and use it as the primary calendar within O365, means that syncing google to o365 calendars isn't really that important any more. Using a central Gcalendar now works pretty well x platform.

On the other hand, there is no easy way to sync contacts from a central Google account into O365 (though it will sync with MacOS, Android, and Win10 People). So this seems like it would be a high priority...?

I am using GO Contact Sync Mod to sync calendar between Google and Outlook. This has worked reliably and in the background for over a year for me. I have tried other sync apps which either weren't reliable or wouldn't work automatically in the background.

@simonz21 The primary use case of OGCS is to sync Exchange Outlook work calendars out to Google, which often is behind network or corporate access constraints. I take your point though, Contacts sync would be good - just a struggle finding the time to develop it...

That's interesting. I use OGCS the other way round. I make Google my primary calendar, and use it as a central point to synchronise all other calendars. I can then view a common calendar from Outlook, phone, tablet, etc. I don't use Exchange, however. I use Outlook with POP and pst files.

Well, I've just started an online course to learn Python. I last did any programming back in the 80's, so it might take me a week or two, but I'm sure I'll be able to pitch in and help some after that. ;-)

I desperately want this too. A lot of companies are forcing users to use Outlook instead of native contacts app. Basically means I need to maintain to separate a list of contacts

Contacts sync would have to follow on from #1307 making it to a beta release, but with the introduction of Profiles, contact sync is closer than it was!

#1307 is closed for a while now. Any news on Contact Sync?

Closed for a while, but Profiles only just made it to the Beta release last month.

I'm looking to spend the next few alphas on closing out some of the more minor feature requests on Calendar, and then hopefully figuring out Contacts. It's a big change though, so I'm thinking I may temporarily fork this project and those that are interested in Contacts Sync can switch to the forked releases...

Just wanted to find out if there's been any attempt/progress on this. :)

Unfortunately no, and now #1640 has taken priority over it too.
