Curious, but why? I'm guessing you are referring to Github? Given so many developers use Github, and it's externally hosted, I'm keen to keep using Github. You could use Gitlab which has a free hosted version as well. In the FOSS world, we often want 100% FOSS, instead of using the best tool for the Job. I fully believe in FOSS, but I also think use the best tool for the job as long as it doesn't lock you in. I think Github's lockin is minimal and a good tool for the job.

This issue was inspired by a recent discussion on the LA mailing list.

I'm a huge fan of github, but do think it's worth exploring other options. Preferably 100% FOSS.

However I'm not putting my hand up to do or push this.

So many options, so little time. If we focus more, perhaps it will help to
maintain our existing self-hosted, critical infrastructure better.

I've only briefly played with Gogs, but wow. We use Gitlab at work and it's a beast, overkill for what we need. I think Gogs would be perfect. Happy to put an hour in to setting it up if wanted

It's down the priority list as a wishlist bug, but I still hope we get there: I've been thinking https://sourcehut.org/
