Disable/enable react-processing effects

I'm trying to update react-processing effects via props but updates seem to be ignored.

const [active, activate] = useState(true)
...
<input defaultChecked={active} onChange={$event => activate($event.target.checked)} />
...
<EffectsComponer>
<Glitch 
active={active}
mode={GlitchMode.DISABLED}
/>
</EffectsComposer>

Both active and mode props are ignored.
