Unable to enter password

If certain apps are last used, they don't release their focus for even other apps, but in particular to log in from the lock screen.
For example, linapple and I think the command prompt from Bottles. I have a suspicion that VirtualBox may also cause this issue, but not sure of that.
Anyhow, I've had a couple a situations where linapple was definitely the culprit and because it was the last app used prior to locking, I could not enter anything in the password field for the lock screen.
