Panorama Tab Groups extension unmaintained?

It seems the most recent activity in this repository is about 4 years ago (2020), indicating a code freeze while CI is being setup. Some 30 commits have been merged since the last release of 0.8.12 on 19 May 2020.

In one of the two forks, there has been recent-ish (2022) activity fixing #260 (see PR #280 in this repository), and a few other improvements.

Are there any plans for reviving this project, or would it be better for users to look into migrating (back?) to Panorama View? The repository looks at least more alive than the README of this project indicated in 2018.

I haven't checked out the functionality of Panorama View recently, so I'm not sure if its current state is comparable or on-par with the features offered in this extension.

I'm not involved with this project, but native tab groups seem to be in development according to Mozilla, so it's likely that people might not want to be able to spent time working on a (potentially complex) addon when there's a native equivalent coming down the road:

I thought this extension was abandoned due to the web extension changes? Though a lot has changed in 7 years.

I have to admit that years ago I submitted code to have my own needed feature (popup view) that I still use daily at work. I had spent my free time for months developing this. I wasn't eager to invest any more time as it has "worked for me" ever since. 🙈

I don't know, what are the thoughts from the original maintainer.

I would suggest into looking into the available addons and test out which worked best for you. If you on Github, you might be able to participate in helping the maintainers from active addons. 🙂
