Error passing proxy as dict #113

I tried passing a proxy as a dict and get "expected string or bytes-like object". I then passed it as a string and didn't get an error, but I'm pretty sure it's not working correctly, as my IP got blocked.

Proxies do work when tested outside of gnews.
