clarifcation on email notifications

Hi,

We have several projects each with several repos. Some of our users don't want email notifications from some of the repos, or all repos on a project.

They have used the User -> Email notifications section of the redmine UI and selected "For any event on the selected Projects only" and ticked just projects they want, some have also ticked the "I don't want to be notified of changes that I make myself".

However they are still getting git commit notifications.

I guess that the redmine Email notifications settings and the redmine git plugin mailing list setting are independent of each other so changing the Email notifications settings makes no difference to the git commit emails?

If so I guess we create a mailing list with a list of excluded users and add it to each repo that they don't wont?

... and there is no way to not email the committer if they don't want it?
