in the past I could open anything into Notepad 2 & 3...

ok I figured it out, MsgFileUnknownExt= changing it from 1 to 6 fixes it...
I figured this out by testing with a new ini file... and then updated my main ini
I will still post this here in case some one else has this issue in the future...

as this is now a question... do the devs have anything they would like to comment about this including the values for the above setting variable?

Thank you very much. This has been due to rework of message-box issue "system beep" (#1133).

  • We can clear the [Suppress Messages] section, if Notepad3 detects a .ini-file version less than v2 - the user has to reapply all "Don't show this dialog again" check boxes (the easy way).
  • Or, we have to provide a "translation" from old settings, to new settings (.ini < v2). 🤔

Trying to cover old settings ([Suppressed Messages]) too...:
Please test beta version _5.19.512.1699_RC (see beta-channel access #1129).
