Notepad3 v5.19.726.2515 RC: can't modify block of lines #1481
Comments
Thank you for reporting. |
Tested and considered good 👍 - the bug is not present in v5.19.730.2521 RC2 anymore. I'll close the issue after the next release. Thanks for the quick fix! |
Just a short followup: what about the second issue raised above with the unfortunate translation? Shall I move that into a new and separate issue (as this is a completely unrelated topic), or can we track it here and I'll close the issue after both the bug remains fixed in the next official release and the translation got improved? |
@engelhro : sorry, I forgot to mention, that with the provided beta version (v5.19.730.2521 RC2) the language issue has been fixed too ;-) |
Hello @engelhro , |
Hello,
I've discovered a glitch in version 5.19.726.2515 RC of Notepad3.
Issue
I'm unable to perform any modifications via
ALT
+M
('Edit' → 'Selection' → 'Modify Lines…').How to reproduce
Create an empty file and write some dummy text. Then try to prepend some character (or line number, as listed below in that dialogue) to all lines (or a region of selected lines, doesn't matter).
An error message appears, stating that "This operation can't be performed within a rectangular selection."
Note: This even happens when no text is selected (in this case the modification should apply to all lines).
Previous behavior
The same operation works perfectly with the current release version v5.19.630.2381 (no error message and the requested modification gets performed).
Remark
I think the German translation for this menu entry is misleading (I usually use English with Notepad3, but the portable version downloaded for verification of the above issue starts in German for me, so I've noticed it this time):
In my opinion it shouldn't read "Numeriere Zeilen" (it would be "Nummeriere Zeilen" by the way…). This tool can be used for more than enumerating lines (i.e. adding arbitrary text). In fact most of the modifications at least I perform do not involve any of the enumeration options listed.
I think a translation like "Modifiziere Zeilen" would be more appropriate.
The text was updated successfully, but these errors were encountered:
