random idea: what if a relationship specified all of the roles associated?

one relationship per source + target
each relationship can have many roles (relationship types)
pros
- easier
cons
- loses any ability for per-relationship meta-data (we're not doing this yet, but maybe later?)
  - provenance / changes over time
