trying to change the default capped extraction size from 4 Gib to anything else causes an error

isn't there anything further in the log, i.e. where in the files_archive app this error is generated?

Also: which PHP and NC version are you using?

True is, that adjusting the limit is broken in 12.3, this should be fixed by ebc2cd6, but I do not think that is related to the error message you are reporting (which I also cannot reproduce, neither before nor after ebc2cd6).
