So much this. My TeX/LaTeX install went from 6.4GB with the full MacTeX install, to ~250MB with TinyTeX, after installing all the packages I actually use. Thanks!

Yes! This is really good to lightweight TeX installation 👍

@yihui is it ok to use this for a github-action?

I make a github action to compile LaTeX doc into PDF with TinyTex. The repo is here.

Tinytex is already use in GHA workflows for R in https://github.com/r-lib/actions
There is setup-tinytex action available for that installing on windows, macos and linux. It uses the same script to install. So I guess it is fine.
