Discord server live? #108
Comments
All three discords listed should work. The official discord is the least used. The community discord is very active and has a gamedev channel as well as other channels. The Rust Gamedev server is slightly smaller but more focused. for longer terms questions, reddit has a rust and rust_gamedev forum. there's also users.rust-lang.org for general rust usage questions. Personally I get almost all of my rust help from somewhere on the discords. |
@John-Nagle they have threads now, which does make it a lot better for ongoing discussions. And there are quite a few technical discussions that do take place on there, but I see how it is difficult to get used to :) We don't have an official forum, however, maybe you could check out Amethyst's forum? https://community.amethyst.rs/ |
There may be a minimal account verification or something still left on from an event ages ago. Either way, I'd try one of the other two discords. The official rust discord's wg-gamedev channel is nearly entirely unused for gamedev discussion anyway. |
I believe there's something in the #welcome channel that you have to read/acknowledge before you can access the official Rust server. |
I've tried the Discord server, from the web version of Discord, but get "Messages failed to load". Is that defunct, or broken, or what?
Does the WG have a live forum anywhere? Twitter and Discord are the wrong tool for discussing complex technical issues. They're for one-line comments.
