Description

Smartproxy is somehow affecting network connection even if "Direct (No Proxy) is selected. I've tested it multiple times, i'm certain of it.

Steps to Reproduce

  1. Have not so good mobile internet
  2. Have SmartProxy installed on Firefox, although no proxy enabled
  3. Try watching Youtube on 720p or 1080p - get periodical buffering
  4. Disable or uninstall the extension
  5. All good, video playing smoothly

Which browsers did you test this on?

Firefox

Affected browser versions

Firefox 123.0.1

Affected SmartProxy versions

SmartProxy 1.3.0

Please provide more details

  1. What profile you have selected
  2. Open Proxyable resources and check the logs on youtube. Is any request proxied?
  3. Select SmartProxy mode and check Proxyable resources again for proxied requests

  1. The problem is present when Direct (No Proxy) is selected
  2. If Direct mode is selected, every request is reported as not proxied
  3. If Alway on is selected, every request is reported as proxied.
  4. If the extension is completely disabled on Extensions page, network performance is much better
Maybe it's some kind of performance bottleneck? But i don't run it on a calculator, i have Ryzen 7 5800U and 16gb of RAM.
