feature request: Return object in memory

Request from multiple people at ACAT:
Add a parameter that allows users to read from a file and apply transformations to data, and return the altered object rather than writing it to a file (for example, parquet_to_root would return an Uproot TTree rather than creating and writing it to a ROOT file).
