Describe the bug
Little momments of lag while reading

To Reproduce
Steps to reproduce the behavior:

Read anything until the lag starts

Expected behavior
No lag while reading.

Additional context
the lag is not immediaty, but increases over time.

I have refined the reader heavily with commits to efficiency, but help is needed to fully convert it.
