WFS 3.0 Hackathon - Draft Agenda

This is an initial draft agenda for the Hackathon. The agenda will be adapted as necessary during the event.

We plan to share at least the initial and final sessions - marked with [Remote] and with their scheduled start time - with remote participants using GoToMeeting. However, we cannot guarantee if there will be remote web conferencing capabilities just yet.

All times are in Mountain Standard Time (UTC -7h).


Day 1, 09:00 - 17:15

09:00 Introduction (15 min, Scott, Peter, Clemens, Chris) [Remote]

09:15 WFS 3.0 Introduction (30 min, Clemens, Peter) [Remote]

Participant introduction (90 min, all)

  • Brief background - What have you worked on that leads to you being here?
  • Thoughts & visions for WFS 3.0 spec - What do you want geospatial data on the web to do?
  • This week - What are you planning to work on this week? What kind of help would you welcome from other participants?

Forming groups (15 min, Peter, Clemens, all)

Identify topics to work on, for example:

  • Client development using a WFS OpenAPI definition
  • Adapting an existing client, e.g. QGIS, GDAL
  • Developing test assertions for a WFS 3.0 using its OpenAPI definition
  • Developing / setting up additional WFS 3.0 servers
  • A draft extension, e.g. more advanced queries / filtering or transactions
  • WFS / STAC alignment
  • STAC Earth Observation Profile

Lunch

Working in groups (~240 min, all)

Discussion of technical issues from the work, if needed (~30 min, all)

Summary and plans for Day 2 (~15 min, Peter, Clemens, all)

Your best bet for parking may be the Oak Street lot, just east of College - drive north on College past Mulberry and Olive and turn right on Oak into a parking lot behind the block.


Day 2, 09:00 - 17:15

Discussion of technical issues from the work, if needed (~30 min, all)

Working in groups (~90 min, all)

15:30 Presentation of results, discussions (60 min, all) [Remote]

  • 5 minutes for each team
  • Videos from remote participants

16:30 Conclusions for WFS 3.0 (30 min, Peter, Clemens, all) [Remote]

17:00 Summary, follow-up and STAC outlook (15 min, Scott, Peter, Clemens, Chris) [Remote]

18:00 Drinks, Dinner - Coopersmiths Pub & Brewing, 5 Old Town Square

If you are driving, take College north to Mountain; turn right on Mountain, and use the parking garage on the right in the next block. The restaurant is across Mountain from the parking garage, enter the building on the right (Poolside).
