GPG signing from yubikey appears to be broken until a user calls gpg --card-status (not sure why). It should be possible to call this command automatically whenever the yubikey is plugged in.

Solution:
Create a systemd unit that calls this command when a yubikey is plugged in. (Not sure how to do this, but I am pretty sure it is possible)
