Starting the Scaloop page, moving issue from Scale-Planning to here

Just created a Scaloop branch under socallinuxexpo.

Will start pushing code this week.

I need to get in touch w/ @hriday , @leizleiz , @rgolan and/or other(?) about hooks into the registration system, would like to send out "suggestions" to people after they register, something like "Hey, there is 5 people that live within 2 miles of you, would you like to contact them to organize a ride together?" (or sometime like that.

@sbibayoff I dont know if we collect he necessary data at the moment to know location of registrants. Some of that data goes to paypal for billing purposes, and I guess we could ask them to pass it to us, but your billing address isn't necessarily your physical location.

there is a zip field. I'll need a day or two to get a local copy of the scale website running for me to check it out for certain. I'll also have a mockup of what I'm proposing also.

And I'll get a more detailed idea writeup. Here's a quick synopis:

1. On registration, people could "opt-in" to be part of the ride sharing arrangements. (and have at least the zip of where they will come from)
2. SCaLE back end will cluster people close by to each other (or maybe along the route they most likely will take).
3. SCaLE will send out an email to each person who opt-in will a list of potential contacts. The contacts will all have a [email protected] that all messages will go through a nym/annoumous SCaLE email relay server (think Craigslist "reply to" button). I have an idea how craiglist does this, but need to test out a couple of ideas first.
4. If/when people get comfortable with each other, they could exchange contact info themselves.
5. There also will be a forum and map broken down into areas/zones (east, west, south, north(?)) where people could just make general blast announcement of where and when they are coming, and wither the need or could give a ride. A point on the map will indicate the general area they are located.

@irabinovitch I'll get a better write up of this will a better technical description on the main Scaloop page then make an announcement on the planning list asking for help and suggestions.
