macOS Support #87
Comments
It's quite the enigma, because I remember a lot of users reporting success on M1 back when Rosetta should have technically been worse, and when I would have expected more problems because of older CEF versions, etc. It would be very cool if we could pin down the root of the crashes happening lately. |
Still crashing on MacOS Sonoma (14.0) with workshop on the loading. (bar with Finished. text) |
You're one of the users on M1 with an issue, which seems to be a more uncommon scenario; most users crashing are on M2 processors and don't get that far, instead crashing on launch. It'd probably be helpful if you can send crash logs and reports to @WinterPhoenix or in the #cefcodecfix channel on Discord. Might be better to send them in a private message just in case of any personalized data. |
I think I'll just start posting anonymized reports here:

M1 Pro here and it hasn't worked for me since 14.0 beta something, I'm on 14.3 now and still having issues though I'm not sure where to find those reports |
I have the same issue as Lakeland97. M1 Pro and it hasn't worked in a long while, tried everything. Game loads into the menu, but as soon as it loads addons it crashes to desktop. Worked perfectly before upgrading to Sonoma. |
Lakeland didn't update their post here, but somehow it just started working for them. Take a look at Console.app for logs that might be helpful |
Still have the same problem as earlier, even with the latest updates. Could it be a conflict of workshop items? |
Could be a lot of things. Luckily since you're not crashing until Workshop addons are loaded, you have a good place to start testing. Try launching the game with |
Tried that now, however now it crashes even faster, like I don't even see the menu until it crashes. The crash log says the same as always though! "PC register does not match crashing frame (0x0 vs 0x7FF8A13A2A78)" |

macOS support is shaky at best and seems to be getting less and less reliable as time goes on. The main issue seems to be Rosetta, as macOS users continue to migrate to Apple Silicon.
