I would like to propose the addition of a new feature to the Excel Connector that would enable formula push functionality. Currently, the Excel Connector only allows for the transfer of cell values, but incorporating formula push would greatly enhance its automation capabilities and streamline data exchange between various Excel documents.
Feature Benefits:
Data Integrity: Enabling formula push would preserve the underlying formulas during data exchange, ensuring data integrity and reducing the risk of manual errors and inconsistencies when working with interconnected datasets.
Streamlined Automation: Formula push empowers users to automate processes involving complex calculations and data transformations. By pushing formulas, dynamic links can be established between different Excel cells, enabling real-time data updates and eliminating the need for manual intervention.
Enhanced Analysis and Reporting: Excel is renowned for its analytical capabilities. By incorporating formula push in the Excel Connector, users can seamlessly integrate data from multiple sources while preserving the underlying formulas. This would unlock advanced data analysis, dynamic reporting, and real-time visualization without compromising the integrity of the original Excel workbook.
Expected Behavior:
I expect that upon pushing a range in the Excel Connector, the connector will transfer both cell values and their corresponding formulas when exchanging data between Excel and the Speckle server. This behavior ensures that the formulas remain intact, allowing for accurate calculations and preserving data integrity.
Current Behavior:
Currently, the Excel Connector only transfers cell values without including the formulas. This limits the automation capabilities and hampers the seamless integration of data, as the formulas that drive the calculations are not included in the data exchange.
Additional Information:
We believe that incorporating formula push into the Excel Connector would significantly enhance its functionality and make it an even more valuable tool for users seeking to maximize productivity and efficiency in their workflows. We kindly request the development team to consider this feature request and evaluate the feasibility of its implementation.
Thank you for your attention to this matter. We look forward to hearing your feedback and discussing the potential inclusion of formula push in the Excel Connector.
Best regards,
Alireza Afzali
