Do you use Raspberry Pis and enjoy to use Linux? That's what I also do π
In 2013 I dectected a Raspberry Pi 1B under the Christmas tree - my son β€οΈ . That's when I started to use Raspberry Pis @home. Immediately I created a simple backup tool - raspiBackup - given the SD card is not that reliable - for my Raspberry Pis.
At some point in time I thought raspiBackup may also be useful for all the folks out there using Raspberries and published raspiBackup on github. It then took me a lot of time to make raspiBackup bulletproof because it's a major difference whether you use your tool in your local environment or it's used by folks out there who have different environments and a lot of checks had to be added in raspiBackup to catch any misconfiguration and write appropriate error messages. raspiBackup has more than 300 messages now. At some point in time I created a webpage which helps to locate the root cause of an error message and to fix the root cause given the number of help requests for error messages.
I got a lot of feedback and raspiBackup evolved and finally has a lot of features the community asked for and likes. Nowadays raspiBackup supports SSDs which are much more reliable - but nevertheless it's important to have a current backup handy in case of any disaster which may happen.
In addition I create tools - raspberyyTools - for Raspberry Pis in order to manage them and share all these tools on github.
One of my primary goals with raspiBackup was to help the many folks who use Raspberry Pis @ home and are not that much familiar with Linux to help them to create a backup of their Raspberries used in production (home automation, NAS et al). That's why I created a tiny raspiBackup installer. But raspiBackup is also used by a lot of folks familiar with Linux π
I created a lot of documentation and there are a lot of Youtube videos about raspiBackup available.
If there are any questions or problems with my tools don't hesitate to create either an issue or a discussion on github. I'm also open for any feature requests π Without them raspiBackup wouldn't have all the features it has now.
