There are a number of Sass deprecations from upcoming breaking changes in Sass 2 and 3. This could be a good opportunity to review the extent to which Sass is needed for this package, and whether it might be better at this point to switch to vanilla CSS only? The package has very little use of Sass features aside from variables, which now have great support directly in CSS.
